It has been very pleasing to be able to keep more or less the same squad as last years championship winning side. The start of last season saw us lose seven first team regulars and a major rebuilding ensued. Harrison Walsh, Liam Clegg and Ellis Wallbank all played as sixteen year olds last year and I fully expect Harrison and Ellis to feature on a more regular basis this season. Liam has moved on and we wish him well. However I feel that was more to do with the quality of the pitches we played on after Xmas. The spirit is still very much in evidence this season and I am delighted with the attitude to pre season training from the lads and I feel we are collectively fitter than at any point of last season. Today we have the toughest test possible with runners up Slyne the visitors.
New Manager Tony Hesketh. At a meeting between Nick, our Chairman Mick Waller and Executive Member Kenny Braithwaite last Sunday morning, it was agreed that in view of our league position, the current situation could no longer continue. Premier Division status is vital to this club and for any successor to Nick and Scott to have any chance of turning things around before the end of the season, action had to be taken now. Our thanks go to Nick and Scott for all the hard work that they have put into Fulwood and we wish them well going forward. Similarly Nick has gone on record as saying that he wishes Fulwood all the very best for the future.
